Mobile Innovations (via kenyacitizentv)
Kenyan home automation via mobile phone. Looks like 3210s so SMS rather than bluetooth.. good text plan hopefully.
Reminded me of a video I saw a few years ago of an African kid doing 12v lighting in his village with solar and scavenged car batteries. All electrical theory was self taught. With that curiosity and initiative. I wonder if he went much further, like this guy.
Another reduced size Arduino compatible board. Don’t know if it’s any cheaper than ModernDevice.com’s Really Bare Bones, the designer isn’t overly interested in starting a store. Design files are available so small runs for group projects or education can be organized via any online PCB service.
I like the ottantotto because it includes the serial interface, while the RBBB does not, but the availability and kit form of the RBBB has a lot going for it, particularly for my immediate concern of presenting a new project to a new audience.
Really Bare Bones Board - Arduino compatible.
Just got 5 of these recently on a combined order with TXD & LOL. very small, complete kit and (perhaps overly) thorough build instructions on the website.
I think these are a great option for introducing uControllers to newbies. Designed to plug into a bread board, the 0.1”pitch means it wouldn’t take any effort to include in a custom veroboard project. Better than classic Arduinos for long term solutions.
